originals, folksongs, standards and instant-compositions are the soil we plow with this fresh trio. we are trying not to limit us in any style and enjoy the weird situation without bass. i'm not only bringing some of my compositions in to this collective, but also a huge bassdrum. for further information, to order our new cd "gunzgen sued" (release october 08 on unit records) or to book us, feel free to contact eglidominic@hotmail.com.

miniaturorchester
on invitation of the first swiss edition of the austrian movement "jazzwerkstatt" in february 08, araxi karnusian founded the miniaturorchester. she writes for five horns and two drums on grooves that simon and i tinker; the band sounds somewhere between a balkanbrassband, a dixielandcombo and a chamberorchestra, lots of improvised music is going on...our record "pro specie rara" will be baptised on the festival jazzwerkstatt 2010
araxi karnusian (ts/comp), domenic landolf (cl), matthias spillmann (tp/flh), silvio cadotsch(tb), lukas roos (bcl), simon fankhauser (dr), dominic egli (dr, cracklebox, berimbao)

matsup
matsup used to be matthias spillmann's septet, with which we recorded three cds- the last one was about modest mousorgsky's pictures of an exhibition (unit records). now matthias has changed the direction radically and for the new lineup (mats tp&flh, reto suhner as/fl, marc meant p, patrice moret b) he writes african inspired, open groovemusic, he calls it "metaphysic dance music". our record "5" came out in october 09 on unit records

araxi karnusian’s strange sounds - beautiful music
araxi took the risk of uniting a stringquartet and a jazzgroup; and the scores she writes for the ensemble are beautiful music (but not only beautiful)! her cd "interrupted" is out since february 08 on YVP-music with three parts of exciting music. highlights of the releasetour were the "bejazz-winterfestival" and the "langnau jazz-nights 08", i hope a new program will be out soon!

duo whirlpool
this multifunctional duo together with my love araxi karnusian works as a lyrical saxophone/percussion duo with an ethno-jazz touch for church services, weddings, diploma celebrations and other private occasions; or, as a reeds/drum duo for dancers or art events (kunstsoufflee 2005, bioart 2006, influx 2010...). we write music or create musical conceptions on request as well. exploring improvised music, we were invited to perform at the last "marguerite de reding improvisation contest" and the "bernau minifestival 2007". for booking, for further information or to order our demo please contact eglidominic@hotmail.com.

degen/frei/egli
in the 80s, well known american pianoplayer bob degen and bassist peter frei played some tours toghether. now they get together again and form their new trio, of which i'm proudly part of. we perform mr. degen's original composition and standards out of the broadway songbook, in a very openminded, spontaneous way.

oli kuster kombo
oli’s project sounds a little bit like "if monk wrote spacedout lyrical oddmeterboogaloos for clarinet" to me. our first album "oerlikon" is out on unit records, the second one "flokati" with new songs and corners is recorded and out on unit records as well.

peter frei’s "three trios" and "standard movement"
i produced the album "three trios" in 2005 (brambus records) and organised the following releasetour for my always-too-shy mentor bassist peter frei, a master on his instrument. i think it was time that he had the chance to document and perform music (broadwaysongs) with people of his choice, that features his unique concept of bass- and group imrovisation. colin vallon (p), michael zisman (bandoneon) and rafael schilt (ts) are the soloists on the record and are our regular trio-partners. For autumn 08, peter puts toghether a new quartet for some gigs called "standard movement", now with peter eigenmann (guit) and rafael schilt (ts)

silvio cadotsch odem
young trombonist silvio cadotsch leads this pianoless quartet. he plays crazy lines with a soft and warm tone, contrasted by rafael's hymnicism on his complex but folklike compositions. our album will be released in autumn 2010. silvio cadotsch (tb, comp), rafael schilt (ts), fabian gisler (b), dominic egli (dr)
